Mary Leach / RN, President
Mary is responsible for conducting the overall orchestration of services and providing Financial/Operation Management. Her experience includes management of skilled, sub-acute, assisted living, independent and campus of care. Prior to CopperSands, Inc., Mrs. Leach was Divisional Vice President for a major corporation and responsible for the management of 43 facilities located nationwide. In her capacity as Vice President, she developed aggressive Medicare programs, initiated contractual agreements with managed care companies, and pursued the development of specialty services, such as sub-acute care. In addition, she has a successful history as a Director of Nursing, Administrator and Regional Director in long term and sub-acute care.
Ronald Leach / Sr. Vice President
Ron is responsible for company development of facilities and diversified services for seniors. He provides experience and knowledge in construction costs and regulatory requirements on independent, assisted living, and skilled facilities. In addition, he has experience and knowledge in facility plant, renovations and environmental services. His successful career includes Ownership of Businesses, Assistant Administrator, Operations Manager and multi-facility consulting and training and contract purchasing. H has been Regional Manager of Facility Renovations and Construction for a large Health Care company.
Patty Freeman / Vice President of Acquisitions
Patty is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Human Resources, support staff functions, and directs the financing process for the acquisition and refinancing of new construction and existing communities. She has over 30 years of experience managing the lending and closing procedures of real estate transactions with specific knowledge and expertise in VA, conventional and HUD financed properties. For the past 7 years, Patty has held her Assisted Living license. Prior to CopperSands, INC. Mrs. Freeman was Vice president of a large escrow and title company where she successfully managed the day to day operations, legal claims, loss mitigation, internal auditing, and worked closely with the Department of Financial Institutions and the Attorney General Office. She has been recognized nationally for her expertise and dedication and is a past Board Member of the Arizona State Escrow Association.
Cindy Leach / RN, Chief Operations Officer
Cindy is responsible for all of CopperSands’ facility finance and operations in Arizona and Nevada. She served as past President of the Arizona Health Care Association which she has been a board member since 2002. Cindy is a Licensed Administrator and Assisted Living Manager. She has a special expertise in Medicare and Managed Care systems, Regulatory compliance, and systems to improve cost reimbursements. Prior to CopperSands Inc., she was successful as a multi-facility quality manager and responsible for training, pre-surveys, quality assurance, and assistance in developing post-acute programs and Medicare/Managed Care monitoring for 20 facilities in several states. She has a highly successful track record as a Director of Clinical Services in skilled, assisted living and post-acute care and is a recipient of the national “Quality of Care in Long Term Care” award through the American College of Health Care Administrators.
Mark Young / MBA VP Business Development
Mark E. Young is responsible for all Sales & Marketing initiatives for the entire CopperSands Inc.’s portfolio. Mark is an executive leader with verifiable success achieving revenue, profit, and business growth objectives with-in start-ups, turnaround and rapid-change environments. Extraordinary cross-functional management background and documented record of increased sales, operating income, market penetration and customer service levels in every company for the past 20+ years. Mark serves as catalyst for positive change and provides leadership based on an inverted pyramid philosophy, infusing organizations with customer-centric policies and service as the top priority. As an entrepreneur Mark has raised millions in capital and launched successful business ventures. Mark earned his BS in Marketing and his MBA from San Jose State University.
Michelle Laguna / MSN, RN VP Clinical Services
Michelle Laguna is a Registered Nurse with over 20 years’ experience in the clinic setting, acute care hospitals, LTACHs and Short-term rehab facilities. Michelle is originally from Albany, New York. She joined the US Navy as a hospital corpsman and used the GI Bill to attend nursing school. Michelle has a Master’s Degree in Nursing with a concentration in leadership and management. She is married and lives in Tucson. Together, Michelle and her husband, Alex, have 5 children and 2 dogs. She enjoys hiking, camping and enjoying the warm Arizona weather. Prior to joining CopperSands as VP of Clinical Services, Michelle spent many years in key leadership and management positions such as Provider Relations, Quality Management and Nursing Services. She is responsible for planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the Clinical Departments in all the Skilled Nursing Facilities and Assisted living facilities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facilities.
Christopher Luciano / V.P. Behavioral Health/Substance Abuse
Chris oversees all financial and operating interests for CopperSands, Inc.’s Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse programming. Chris has more than 12 years’ experience in the health care industry ranging from long term care, behavioral health and substance abuse treatment. Before joining CopperSands, Inc. in 2015, Chris worked as Director of Finance for a national behavioral health company for nine years. He has worked for individual facilities and large-scale companies in several capacities, including: including Controller, Finance Director, Regional Director of Finance and Regional Operations Director. His hands on experience allows him to understand financial statements from both a financial and operational perspective. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Ohio University in Athens, OH.
Michelle Hill / Vice President of Information Systems
Michelle, as the Director of Information Systems, is building a responsive IT organization that consistently delivers results by aligning technology initiatives with business goals, providing substantial improvement of service delivery, standardization, and business systems performance. She has over 20 years of divers IT experience working for several large internal corporations. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems form Regis University in Denver, Colorado and maintains active membership in the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
Chris McDonald / VP Environmental Services
Chris McDonald is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, life safety, construction, remodels, and overall condition of all our facilities. He oversees all maintenance contracts and negotiations of all construction contracts. He has extensive training in facility regulations, life safety, and NFPA and ensures the safest environment for our guests and staff. Chris has been in the healthcare field for 10 years in Colorado and Arizona.
